Over the last 2 months I've been using Pantry religiously and tracking everything I ate. I used the data export feature to take my data to excel and see some stats. What I found was really interesting, here are some of the cheapest protein sources, and how many grams of protein you get per dollar.
- Milk (2%) — 51g
- Boiled eggs — 50g
- Overnight oats — 44g
- Chicken breast & rice — 30g
- Chicken thighs — 27g
- Protein shake — 27g
- Chicken mix — 26g
- Fiesta cheese — 25g
- PB protein brownie — 18g
- Light tuna pouch — 16g
- Albacore tuna can — 15g
- Protein bars — 14g
- Bagels plain — 14g
- Shrimp & rice & avocado — 9g
- Hot chili w/ beans — 9g
This doesn’t account for calories which is something I’m working on integrating to the equation. maybe (protein / calorie) / dollar but this just rewards diet soda.
This is just data that came from the food I actually ate. There are lots of other great sources.
